Maryland Crab Cake Recipe from a true Marylander

Here is the authentic crab cake recipe from a true Marylander! We use only Maryland Blue crab. It must be lump crab meat, also called back fin. In other words, no claw meat.

Also, you must use Old Bay seafood seasoning.  Old Bay is made by the McCormick spice company and is a staple in Maryland cooking.

Traditional Authentic Maryland Crab Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

2 slices white bread, crusts removed and crumbled
2 tbsps. mayonnaise
2 tsps. Old Bay® Seasoning
2 tsps dried parsley
1/2 tsp prepared yellow mustard
1 egg, beaten
1 pound lump crab meat

Directions:

  1. Mix bread, mayonnaise, Old Bay, parsley, mustard and egg in large bowl until well blended.
  2. Gently stir in crab meat.
  3. Shape into 4 patties.
  4. Broil 10 minutes without turning.
  5. Alternatively, fry until golden brown, turning once.
  6. Sprinkle with additional Old Bay.
